3 days at hut Marciganitsa

3-DAY HIKING THROUGH THE DOBROSTAN MASSIF OF THE WESTERN RHODOPES WITH THE BASE OF MARTSIGANICA HOUSING

May 24-26, 2024

Three sunny days were expected on the three holidays, and we left 12 people from Sofia with two cars and another 4 people came to the departure point for Slivodolsko padalo. From there we walked to Martsiganitsa hut. We passed by the waterfall Slivodolsko padalo and so on up.

Many years ago there was a village of Slivodol, but now nothing remains. There are no remains at this time.

They gave it for 5 hours, but we took it for much more. The elevation is about 1000 m. The dog who was with us found the route very difficult and several times he lay down and refused to walk. The lodge is actually a hotel with a very good restaurant and a Spa complex with a swimming pool, sauna and steam bath. We stayed in the tourist section.

On Saturday we went to Mount Popa and explored the cave Dobrostanski biser. We returned home at lunchtime to eat at the hotel restaurant. In the afternoon, for an hour and a half, we climbed the Red Rock peak -1501 m in the Red Wall Biosphere Reserve and went back to the hut.

On the way, we collected clematis and buttercups.

Sunday, as the last day, we went down to the Bachkovo monastery, but by the direct route, through the town of Selishte, for 3-4 hours. We traveled back by car to Sofia.
